Ruben Maisonet Melendez, 68, went to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, March 28, 2026. Following a long and courageous battle with COPD, worsened by pneumonia, Ruben passed away peacefully surrounded by his devoted family in his final moments.
Born on May 6, 1957, in Florida, Puerto Rico, Ruben was the son of Eligio Maisonet and Ramona Melendez, and was raised in Barceloneta. Since 1994, he served as the heart and protector of his home, sharing an unshakable and beautiful bond with his wife, Luz.
Ruben was a man who didn't need a crowd, just his people. A talented musician and a faithful follower of the Lord, his faith was a quiet, steady presence. This devotion was found in the notebooks where he carefully marked God’s promises and in the online services he attended faithfully when he could no longer leave the house. He found his greatest joy in the simple moments: solving word searches, sharing morning coffee with his wife, and having his house full of the laughter of his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Luz M. Marrero Pagan; his children, Ana Celynn Maisonet and Javier Maisonet; and his stepchildren, Wanda L. Muñiz, Juan Diaz, Luis Diaz, and Melvin Diaz.
Ruben’s legacy continues through his numerous grandchildren, who were too many to count but each deeply cherished, including Ashley Marie Maldonado, Ismael Joel Maldonado, Elizabeth Nathaly Maisonet, Jasmine Sujeily Davila, Johnnely Ann Flores, John Carlos Flores, Angelo O. Maisonet, Adam D. Maisonet, Yaviel L. Maisonet, and Yednelis Santana, as well as his many great-grandchildren.
He lived a life defined by a steady, loving heart and a quiet company that will be forever missed. As it says in 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
A visiting hour will be held at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, NATICK COMMON, on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am with a funeral service and celebration of life following at 11:00 am in the funeral home.
