Ruth A. (Cotter) Canoni

Ruth A. (Cotter) Canoni of Natick passed away on May 8, 2024 peacefully, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 3, 1945 in Somerville MA.  Daughter of John and Isabel (Chisholm) Cotter.  She was the beloved wife of Robert L. Canoni for almost 55 years. Loving mother of Kelly Olson and her husband Erik of Natick, Leighann Canoni of Framingham, James Canoni of Wilmington, NC, Theresa Mastrangelo and her husband William of Natick and Lawrence Canoni and his wife Colleen of Natick.  Proud Grandmother of Trevor Olson and his wife Megan, Shane Olson, Nicholas Olson, Christian Canoni, Samuel Canoni, Aiden Canoni, Cameron Canoni, Alex Mastrangelo and Isabel Mastrangelo.  Sister of Mary Mespelli, Monica Nickerson, John Cotter Jr. and the late Lawrence Cotter, Jean Bartley and Martha McGilvary.  Also survived by her brother-in-law Lester McGilvary and her dear longtime friend Lorraine Chiacchia.  She was the favorite aunt to countless nieces and nephews.

Ruthie was a local business owner of Sterns Variety Store for many years.  It was the local gathering place for Natickites.  She loved to travel, cruise and visit any and all casinos. She loved to spend summers in Wells Maine with her family.  She was a wife, mother, grandmother, loyal friend and confidante and loved by everyone and will be sorely missed. The family wants to thank Newton Wellesley Hospital doctors, nurses, and the entire staff for their gracious care.  In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.
