Ruth "Ruthie" (Marier) Soglia

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ruth (Ruthie) Marier Soglia, on September 5, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on March 20 to the late Felix and Florence Marier in Three Rivers, MA, Ruthie was happily married to John Soglia until his passing on September 24, 1999. She will be deeply missed by her two children, Terri Marculitis and John Soglia, and her three granddaughters, Allison Marculitis, Emily Marculitis, and Finley Soglia. Ruthie was a lifelong Massachusetts resident, living in Longmeadow, Otis, Hopkinton, and Natick. She was predeceased by her elder brothers, Robert and Russell Marier, and her sisters, Regina Schlesinger and Olive St. Germain.

Ruthie was an accomplished cook, known for her warm hospitality. She shared her love of cooking at her restaurant, Country Cousins in Otis, and at Joe’s Diner in Lee, MA, adding her signature laughter and kindness to every meal. She loved to quilt and knit in her spare time. Whether she was sewing something special for the family or preparing a meal to nourish the soul, Ruthie put love into everything she touched.

Her community of friends treasured her company during games of poker, bridge, and Bingo. Fiercely loyal and always rooting for the underdog, she was quick to lend a helping hand to those in need. Ruthie instilled the values of hard work and perseverance in her children, giving them the gift of an upbringing on Otis Reservoir in the Berkshires. Her unwavering support helped both Terri and John earn their doctorates from Northeastern University. Ruthie's love for her granddaughters was boundless, and she spoke of them with a glowing heart, confident that they would continue to make her proud in all that they have and will pursue. 

Visitation at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., NATICK COMMON on Monday, September 16, 2024, from 10:00 am through 12:00 pm. Interment will follow and will be held in Otis Center Cemetery, Otis, MA at 2:30 pm
