Shirley MacKeil Obituary

Shirley M. (Stone) MacKeil passed away on September 8, 2025. She was born in Natick on May 13, 1938, to the late Ernest and Bernadette (Fitzback) Stone.

Shirley was a graduate of Natick High School and later a longtime resident of Sherborn and Holliston, MA. She was a woman of many passions who especially loved hunting, tending to her garden, and most of all, spending time with her family. Shirley also made history as the first woman president of the Hopkinton (formerly Framingham) Sportsman’s Club. She worked as a financial advisor for Waddell & Reed.

She was the devoted mother of J. Scot MacKeil, Mark MacKeil and his wife Carolyn, Bonnie O’Connor and her husband Joe, and Lori MacKeil. She was a loving grandmother to Emily and her husband Craig, Brenna, Kristen, Katie and her husband Chris, Patrick and his wife Danielle, Isabella, and Ian. She was also the sister of the late Ernest Stone.

A private burial will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Shirley may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
