Spiridoula (Poulimenou) McDermott, lovingly known as Nikki, of Natick, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, surrounded by her devoted family, who held her hand and prayed over her as she entered eternal rest.

Born on April 4, 1936, in Athens, Greece, Spiridoula was the cherished daughter of the late Andonis and Kaliope Poulimenou. At the age of 22, she met the late Austin Michael McDermott, an airman stationed in Athens. They quickly fell in love, married, and soon after welcomed their first child, Anthony. In 1961, following the completion of Austin’s tour of duty, the young family moved to the United States, where Spiridoula embraced her new home with grace and resilience. There, she was blessed with two more beautiful children, Robert and Maria, becoming the devoted mother of three.

Spiridoula lived in several towns before finding her true home in Natick, a community she came to love deeply. She gave generously of her time, volunteering at the Natick Senior Center and local hospitals, always offering kindness, warmth, and a comforting presence to those around her.

Known affectionately as Nikki—a name adopted to make booking hair appointments easier—she built a long and successful career as a talented hairdresser. She worked in salons across Natick, Framingham, and Wellesley, where she not only made her clients feel beautiful but also shared her Greek wisdom, humor, and stories. Her salon chair was a place of transformation, conversation, and connection. Her bright smile, open arms, and generous heart were her signature in the community. She had a gift for making others feel loved, welcomed, and uplifted.

Above all, Spiridoula’s life was defined by her profound love for her family. She adored her children and grandchildren and would move mountains for them. Devoting herself to the intricate task of tending to their hearts, she knew how to love everyone the way they needed to be loved, and her love lives forever through them.

She is survived by her two children, Robert McDermott, and Maria Shearer, and her treasured grandchildren: Johnathan Alan, Nicole Ellyse, and Michael Robert Shearer, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Spiridoula “Nikki” McDermott will be remembered for her compassion, her radiant spirit, and the boundless love she shared with family, friends, and the community she cherished.

Visiting Hours will be held at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, Natick Common, on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm and on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation period on Thursday at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Natick.
