Stephen MacKenzie Obituary

Stephen MacKenzie, 70, passed away on March 28, 2025, in Worcester, Massachusetts. Born on October 1, 1954, in Newport, Rhode Island, Stephen lived a life marked by dedication to his work, his family, and his community.

Stephen built a long and respected career as a test engineer at Raytheon. His commitment to precision and excellence earned him the admiration of colleagues throughout his tenure. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Stephen was known for his outgoing and boisterous personality, he thrived in the company of others and brought energy and warmth wherever he went.

A man of varied interests, Stephen was an avid amateur radio operator who enjoyed connecting with people across the globe through the airwaves. He also volunteered with the Red Cross, offering his time and energy to help those in need. A devoted sports fan, he followed NASCAR with enthusiasm and rarely missed a Red Sox score.

Stephen’s devotion extended most profoundly to those closest to him. He was a steadfast caregiver to his beloved wife, Katherine MacKenzie, whose well-being he prioritized with unwavering love. His bond with their cat was equally cherished—a testament to the depth of care he offered all members of his household.

He is survived by his wife Katherine; daughter Michelle Matthews; son-in-law Tim Matthews; and grandson Rhys Matthews. Stephen was predeceased by his parents, Robert MacKenzie and Marjorie (Colburn) MacKenzie.
