Theresa "Tess" Saras Obituary

Theresa “Tess” M. Saras, 87, of Natick, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 6, 2024.

Born in Salem, MA on September 28, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Regina (Szepalek) Piasecki.  Tess was raised with her brother Walter Pierce in East Cambridge. She graduated from Cardinal Cushing College in Brookline, MA and briefly worked as a model in NY. When she returned to Boston she got a job in advertising sales at The Boston Herald. Shortly after starting a family, Tess and her husband Tony purchased their first house in Natick. When her three kids were older, Tess worked at local advertising agencies and retired after a successful career at The Middlesex News. After retiring she volunteered at Bethany Center in Framingham.

Tess loved going to the beach on vacations with her family, especially to Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard and Wells Beach, Maine. She liked entertaining, gardening and long summer days in the backyard pool. She was a great host, and her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Easter. She loved to cook and bake, especially with produce she grew in the garden and from fruit trees.

In the fall and winter, Tess skied and enjoyed the foliage with her family around the Mt. Washington area of NH. Tess cheered for her kids at their sports events, and attended many concerts, plays and speech tournaments. Tess loved to read and frequented Morse Institute Library in Natick. Tess was an avid fan of The New England Patriots and Red Sox; football games were always on in the background on Sunday afternoons in the fall.

Tess loved animals and had two cats and a number of dogs throughout the years. She was a supporter of rescued poodles and relished her time with Jackson, Miss Jackson and Viva, all beautiful apricot-colored poodles, in addition to the other shelter dogs the family adopted.

Tess especially liked visiting her granddaughters in New Hampshire and Vermont, often bringing one of her dogs on the trip and staying in bed and breakfasts that allowed dogs.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Anthony Saras, of Natick; Loving mother of Tracy Saras, of Chicago, IL, Michael Saras, of Dover, NH and Christopher Saras (Amber), of Morrisville, VT.  Doting grandmother of Amelya Ingram (Dave) and Olivia Saras.
