Thomas M. Swan, 93, of Natick, MA, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester, MA. Tom was the son of the late Thomas and Jean (Tanner) Swan and the brother of the late Marjorie Harris Steffen Burgess.
A graduate of Watertown High School and Northeastern University, Tom had a long career as a mechanical engineer. He also worked part time at the former Circle Gulf station in Natick as well as post-retirement at Rose’s Automotive in Sherborn MA. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army, serving as a sergeant and company clerk during the Korean War, stationed in Japan. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge, First Baptist Church of Natick and more recently the Framingham First Baptist Church where he often ushered.
As a longtime resident of Natick he was married to Nancy (Parsons) Swan where they raised their three beloved children. Tom more recently lived at Sherwood Village in Natick and spent countless hours volunteering at the Natick Senior Center helping seniors in the computer room. He was voted “Natick’s Senior Man of the Year” in 2012. Tom was also an accomplished square dancer and could be found on numerous nights a week on the dance floor into his late 80’s. He loved his visits to the local Wendy’s restaurant where he was well known and treated like royalty by the servers there. Tom loved spending time with his family playing games and doing puzzles.
He is survived by two sons Thomas M. Swan Jr. and his wife Alyce of Lyman, ME, David Swan and his wife Karen of Walpole, MA, a daughter, Pamela J. Brown and her husband Robert of Medway, MA, seven grandchildren (Thomas Robert, Will, Becca, Kristen, Ellie, Andrew and Mac) and twelve great grandchildren (Jose, Alejo, Finn, Rhys, Jovanni, Claire, Alexa, Mila, Rylie, Willow, Kaia, and Jinjoo) as well as another great granddaughter on the way.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 9-11AM in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., NATICK COMMON. A memorial service will follow at 11AM in the funeral home. Burial will take place in Dell Park Cemetery.
