Violetta A. Tutuny

Violetta Agnes Tutuny age 94, of Natick, passed away on June 25, 2022.

Vi was born on June 1, 1928 as a first generation Albanian-American to the late Vasil and Kristina (Vasil) Tutuny. Devoted sister of Pandi Tutuny and his wife Shirley of ocasset and the late Irene Dhosi and her late husband Joseph. Cherished aunt of Katharine Kolenda and her husband Daniel, Joseph Dhosi, Mark Tutuny, Steven Tutuny and his wife Jeannie, Linnea Whear and her husband Gary, Gregory Tutuny and his wife Alison. Also survived by many loving great nieces and nephews who she adored.

A graduate of Natick High School in 1946, Vi received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Salem State College in 1950 and was proud to have been the first college graduate in her family. She began her long, successful and rewarding career as a teacher at Groveland High School from 1950-1953, She returned home to Natick where she taught History at Coolidge Junior High School from 1953-1981 and Humanities at Natick High School from 1981-1990. An institution among teachers in the Natick School system, Vi touched and impacted the lives of hundreds of students. She was a lifelong member of the Annunciation Orthodox Church in Natick and served as a devoted board member of the Vetetima Women's Society of the Albanian Orthodox Church. She participated in many community activities including serving on the board of the Natick Service Council; as coordinator of the Natick Service Council Food Pantry, which is named in her honor. Vi received many awards including the Channel Five “Class Act” Award, The Natick Education Foundation presented Vi with the Shining Light Award in 2004, Distinguished Educator Town of Natick, in 2010 she was chosen as Natick’s Senior Woman of the Year. She was recognized as one of the State of Massachusetts 2012 Unsung Heroines, She was inducted into the Natick High School Wall of Achievement in 1997. Vi enjoyed summers with her loved ones and friends in Onset at the family cottage. She cherished the time she was able to spend with all of her dear friends and former students.

Visiting Hours in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street NATICK COMMON on Thursday July 7th from 4-7pm. Funeral Service in the Annunciation Orthodox Church 37 Washington Street Natick on Friday July 8th at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Dell Park Cemetery, Natick. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Ms. Tutuny may be made to the Natick Service Council Food Pantry 2 Webster Street Natick, MA 01760.
