Virginia Lee Bordi, 74, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023, after a brief illness. Born on July 6, 1949, in New Hyde Park, New York, she was the daughter of the late Pat and Eleanor (Martin) Marinelli. She was the beloved wife of the late Lino Anthony Bordi. Devoted mother of Michael Bordi (Jessica) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Leanne Sarro (Joseph) of Sudbury, MA. Loving Nana of Luke, Matthew, Jack Sarro; Lino and Bennett Bordi.
Ginny met the love of her life, Lino, at Pan Am in 1968. They have been happily married for 53 years. Ginny was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. Everything in her life focused on family. Holidays were filled with warmth, and her love was made evident in her homemade meals such as meatballs, lasagna, and chicken cutlets. She can be proud that her children’s successes are largely attributed to her. For encouragement she would often quote, “God gives us only what we can handle.”
Ginny was a woman of many passions. She was a devoted catholic and had a strong faith in God. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went. She was a social butterfly, loyal friend, and an avid card player. She has many lifelong friends with some going back more than 68 years. She loved people, and she and Lino attended many parties and other social gatherings. Always sharing their cheerful personality and contagious joy, together they were the life of the party. Their home was always full of love, laughter, good food and lots of competitive card games. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones, family, and friends.
She especially loved her role as Nana. Without a doubt, Ginny’s greatest joy was her 5 grandsons. She celebrated all their achievements, from birth to high school graduation and everything in between. She was always their number one fan traveling near and far to visit them at different sporting events. She was always making beautiful memories with them. Her love knew no bounds and her loving influence is etched into their hearts forever.
Our mom leaves us with a legacy of emotional strength, love, and solid Catholic values that were passed to her children, grandchildren, and anyone who met her. She loved and lived every moment she was given. She had a heart of compassion and generosity, and even in her final days, when she was weak and tired, the first thing she would ask was “How are you, is everything ok? How are the boys, are they OK?“ She was a wonderful mother, and we are eternally grateful that she was OURS.
We love you Nana, oh yes we do!!!
