Walter Hauck Obituary

In Ashland, Mass., a resident of Fairfield, CT for 55 years, passed away on November 23, 2021. He was a resident at the Residence at Valley Farm in Ashland, Mass.

Walter was born on August 11, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Madeline Hauck. Walter was the middle son of the late Walter and Marie (Neary) Hauck, and brother of the late Charlie Hauck. He was a devoted husband to Madeline, brother of Phyllis Hauck. Walter was loving father of Walt Hauck and his wife Toni of Orlando, FL, Frank Hauck and his wife Marion of Bedford, NH, and Laura Hauck Mastrianni and her husband Mark of Natick, Mass.

Walter grew up in Woodhaven, NY. He attended Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School and went on to play basketball and baseball at Queens College. He joined the Air Force and became a Staff Sargent in the Korean War. After Walter was discharged from the Air Force, he attended New York University and graduated in 1955. Walter played semi pro basketball in New York. He was a devoted fan of the New York Mets, New York Giants and UCONN women’s basketball. Walter had a great love for cars and was proud of all of the different ones he owned in his life, especially his ’48 Mercury.

Walter was a salesman for Bristol Myers Squibb and then went on to become a Medical Supplies National Sales Manager for Baxter Laboratories for 25 years. He was a 55 year parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Fairfield, CT. Walter enjoyed being a regular at the diners in Fairfield over the years. He also loved attending his children’s games. Walter was a great friend to many and was always available to listen. His interests included bowling in his bowling league, coaching baseball, traveling, going to restaurants, golfing and spending time with his family. One of Walters’s greatest joy was spending time with his 10 grandchildren Kyle, Trevor, Brett, Chase, Gregory, Nathan, Meaghan, Stephen, Zach and Madi. Walter was known as “Champ” to his 14 great-grandchildren who brought so much joy to his life - Caleb, Luke, Alexia, Ethan, Hudson, Arden, Rachel, William, Annabelle, Grace, Ruth, Parker and Beau.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate Walter’s life will be held at 10:30 am on Friday December 3rd at St. Theresa of Lisieux Parish, 35 S. Main Street, Sherborn, MA. Interment at the Massachusetts National Veteran’s Cemetery in Bourne, MA will be private. Visiting hours at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, NATICK COMMON Thursday December 2, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 PM.
