Wendy Perkins Obituary

Wendy M. Perkins age 64 of Natick, passed away at the home of her parents in Pocasset on Monday April 11, 2022 surrounded by family.

Born in Springfield, she was the daughter of Louise (Desposito) and Donald Perkins of Pocasset. Wendy was the devoted mother of Kristin Canto and her husband Brian of Marion and Korrie Jones and her husband Josh of Sandwich.  She was the sister of Charlene Grace Perkins of FL and Lori Zarrilli and her husband Joe of Westborough. Wendy was the proud grandmother of Keira and Jack Canto and Levi, Hallie and Landry Jones.  She was also the proud aunt to Emily and Michael Zarrilli and Becca Lombardo.

Wendy moved to Brockton for  a short time before becoming a lifelong resident of Natick. Wendy was the first born child giving her the role of being the big sister.   Ice skating with her father and sisters was a fond memory she carried with her from her time living in Brockton. Once moving to Natick, Wendy vividly recalled the sweet smell of sawdust in her father’s garage.  He was always working on projects and providing for his family. Every Sunday the smell of pot roast would fill their home cooked religiously by her mother.

She was always there to listen and guide her two younger sisters. They would spend hours playing outside and exploring the woods. As a daughter, she was always looking out for her parents. Family vacations included the beautiful landscapes of New Hampshire and Maine spent fishing, staying in cabins and playing board games. It was apparent that those childhood memories were so impactful that she shared the same with her own children. Specifically New Hampshire and in the white Mountains.

Family was everything to Wendy and that even extended to her friends.  Many of her most fond memories were with Debbie and Patty through lifelong friendships that brought her so much joy.

Wendy graduated from Natick high school in 1975. Shortly after she put herself through nursing school while working nights at Kathryn Barton Nursing Home in Wayland while caring for her oldest daughter Kristin. Eight years later she welcomed her second daughter Korrie. For decades she worked the night shift at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, all the way through the peaks of Covid as a healthcare hero.

It was no surprise that taking care of others was her profession. She carried that need to help and spread her kindness to anyone who knew her and even those who didn’t. Even during the more difficult times in her life, Wendy always put the well-being of others ahead of her own needs.

Wendy‘s deep love for nature was embedded with her daughters from the very beginning. She first shared her love for the Natick falls and later the beauty of Elmbank among many other places.  She was proud to also share these places that gave her so much joy with her grandchildren.

Wendy was known for her smile and kindness among anyone who had the privilege to know her. Her smile was contagious.  It was bigger than the sun and would light up any room. She was truly beautiful inside and out.

If you were to ask her what she was most proud of she would say her daughters and her grandchildren. There was never a limit to how much love she would shower them with.   Wendy consistently encouraged her daughters and grandchildren to always embrace themselves, their talents, their uniqueness and enjoy life. She would frequently share ways to convey her wishes for them through the lyrics of a famous song. Wendy, daughter, sister, mom and grandmother, we are all better because of you.  “I hope you dance.”

Relatives and friends are invited to attended services at the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at the Natick Common on Wednesday April 20, 2022 from 11am to 1pm.  A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
