Obituary

Willis (Bill) James Larracey Jr., 96, longtime Natick resident, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at UMASS Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves his loving children, Katherine Larracey, of Grafton, MA, Thomas Larracey and his wife Susan, of Ashland, MA, Ann McQuaid and her husband Michael, of Brookline, NH, Carol Hannah and her husband Paul of Ashland, MA, and James Larracey and his wife Charlene, of Falmouth, MA; his grandchildren, John Ducat and his wife Heather, of Atlanta, GA, Meaghan Diaz and her husband Jason, of Hartford, CT, Andrew Larracey and his wife Nichole of Ashland, Benjamin Larracey and his wife Stacy, of Washington, D.C., Timothy McQuaid and his partner Lindsay Barry, of Eugene, OR, Justin McQuaid of Eugene, OR, Marybeth Hannah, of Ashland, MA, Shawn Hannah, of Brooklyn, NY, Daniel Larracey, of Jamaica Plains, MA, twelve great grandchildren, Mary, Annie, Estella, Lucia, Lyla, Khloe, Satori, Orion, Cameron, Charlie, Jack and Ava. Bill was predeceased by his wife Mary (Miscia) to whom he was married for more than fifty years, his sister Eleanor Plus, his grandson Joseph Larracey, and his great granddaughter Alice Ducat.

Bill was born in Waterville, Maine to the late Willis J. Larracey Sr, and Ethel (Carey) Larracey. He was raised in Waterville until he joined the Army, to serve proudly for the World War II effort. Upon the end of his Army service, he attended business school in Laconia, NH on the GI Bill. He met Mary the love of his life at a dance in NH and was instantly smitten, they married on May 5, 1951, and settled in Natick where they started their family.

Bill had a long career as a Local 25 Union truck driver and upon his retirement from driving he then went to work with his son Tom and his grandsons at Larracey Construction.

Bill was a member of the Natick Knights of Columbus and had served as Grand Knight twice.

Bill and Mary bought property in Rome, Maine on Great Pond and they spent all their summers at their beautiful camp making wonderful family memories. Bill called his lake house, his happy place. He loved to swim in the lake and taught many of his children and grandchildren how to swim, fish, and water ski.

Bill and Mary loved to travel and explored much of Europe, and road tripped across the USA multiple times, they saw 49 states including Alaska.

During their retirement years and prior to Mary’s passing they spent their winters in Florida enjoying the warm weather.

Bill loved to go on cruises and went on many trips to the Caribbean to enjoy the warm weather during the winter months, just completing his last cruise December 11th.

In his free time, he loved to read; he enjoyed watching the Red Sox, NE Patriots, Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics.

Above all, Bill’s family was his world, he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Patrick Church, 44 East Central Street (Rt 135), Natick on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 10:00, please go directly to the church. Interment to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Pond Street, Natick

In Lieu of flowers donations in memory of Bill may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society at St Patrick Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, MA 01760.
